WATER PNG PLANNED SHUTDOWN OF ROUNA 2

WATER PNG has issued an advise to all water users in the Nation’s capital of a scheduled planned shutdown of Rouna 2 starting tomorrow (Saturday 27th) December to Sunday 28th December 2025.

Water PNG warns that during and immediately following this shutdown, it is anticipated that high level of dirty raw water into the treatment plant at Mt Eriama, which will significantly impact water treatment operations.

As a result:

• The Treatment Plant’s output will be reduced to approximately 50% for about 24 hours during and after the shutdown.
• Potential supply reduction and low pressure therefore customers are to store sufficient water to meet their requirements.
  Water PNG further advised, as a precaution, after the water supply is restored, it is recommended that water users must run taps for 5 minutes to flush out the water or boil the water for consumption, and further apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate consumers understanding as the Water PNG team work to ensure the continued reliability and quality of water supply.
