THE Gazelle District Development Authority (GDDA) as of Monday June 06, 2025, claimed ownership of both Notremal and Langinoa plantations in the Lassul LLG of the Gazelle district in East New Britain province.

The GDDA took ownership of both plantations, which cost K1.8 million, after the completion of sale transfer from Agmark Group of companies was registered by the office of the Deputy Registrar of Titles, Department of Lands and Physical Planning.
Agmark Group of Companies formerly owned both plantations with a total land area of 907.8 hectares.

The Notremal plantation consists of:
1) Portion 27 Milinch: Lassul Fourmil: Rabaul with a State Lease Registration as VOL. 25 FOLIO 48
2) Portion 446 Milinch: Lassul Fourmil: Rabaul with a State Lease Registration as VOL. 26 FOLIO 45 and the Langinoa plantation consists of:
1) Portion 28 Milinch: Lassul Fourmil: Rabaul with a State Lease Registration as VOL. 28 FOLIO 131
2) Portion 29 Milinch: Lassul Fourmil: Rabaul with a State Lease Registration as VOL. 28 FOLIO 25
Under the leadership of Gazelle MP Jelta Wong, the GDDA in 2019 made the decision to purchase both plantations to assist and equip the district administration and the LLGs with their capacity to generate potential internal revenue in the medium to long term.

Acquiring real assets is part of long-term socio-economic visionary decision making by the GDDA and have fulfilled their obligation in fully acquiring the plantations.

In January 2024, Agmark Group of companies and the GDDA signed the contract of sale and the final payment installment of K440 000 was made by the GDDA.

Last Wednesday during the GDDA meeting the district lands officer Kaspar Woa presented the land titles to Gazelle MP and GDDA Chairman Jelta Wong, witnessed by the GDDA members including the eight LLG presidents.
