NCD POLICE CONFIRMS MURDER CASES OVER CHRISTMAS PERIOD

TWO murders were reported during the Christmas period in the National Capital District.
National Capital District and Central Provinces Commander Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Benjamin Turi said the two murders happened at Sabama in the Moresby South Electorate.
One case involved domestic violence, where a man from Goilala was accused of killing his wife. The suspect is now in police custody.
The second murder also happened at Sabama. Police say a 16-year-old boy from Western Province was killed. Two men from Enga have been arrested and are now in custody for investigation.
Commander Turi also confirmed that police are investigating two other deaths reported during the same period. One case was reported in Morata, and another involved a woman in Pari village.
Police responded quickly to the Sabama incidents and warned the public not to take the law into their own hands. Commander Turi said police are following up on information from the public, and arrests were made on the same day.
He said alcohol was a major factor in the incidents. Commander Turi called on people to behave during the New Year celebrations. He urged those who drink alcohol to stay indoors, respect their neighbours, and avoid causing trouble.
He also asked the public not to block roads or burn tyres during celebrations, saying this is dangerous and unnecessary.
Commander Turi reminded everyone to respect life, family, and the community, and to allow police to do their work.
