COURT GRANTS FORMER COMMISSIONER’S APPLICATION

THE National Court has granted former PNG Electoral Commission, Commissioner Simon Sinai to prove his age, once again at the Courts, next year.
Single presiding National Court Judge Justice David Cannings, last week, ruled that former Commissioner Sinai has benefit to prove whether he is 57 as per claimed by himself earlier or past the retirement age, which the Court will sit on the 4th of February 2026 to determine.
Judge Cannings ruled that it was in the best interest of justice that Mr Sinai should be give fair chances to prove his case, whether he passed the mandatory retirement age of 60 or 57.
Ex-Commissioner Sinai’s legal counsel of Solomon Wanis’ lawyers argued that their client has the legal standing to pursue the case and they would see what will happen in February 2026.
Sinai told media that he was born in 1968 at the Kiripia Village of Tambul-Nebilyer district of Western Highlands province.
