EAST NEW BRITAIN Governor Michael Marum officially launched a province-wide induction program for all locally elected leaders yesterday (January 9, 2026), as the final phase of the 2025 LLG elections, that will run for four weeks in all four districts in the province.

Provincial Administrator Levi Mano said the induction will coincide with the formal installation of the Provincial Executive Council and Assembly.

Governor Marum stressed the critical role of local leaders as the primary link between government and communities for driving grassroots development.

Governor Marum reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting the leaders and has called for collective work towards an inclusive and prosperous East New Britain.

The district schedules are: Kokopo (Jan 12-16), Rabaul (Jan 19-23), Gazelle (Jan 26-30), and Pomio (Feb 2-6).

This intensive training aims to equip LLG Presidents, Mayors, Ward Members, Recorders, and Development Committees with essential skills for effective service. Mandatory participation is required for these leaders to fully benefit from the program.
