PNG HEKARI DEPARTS FOR OFC PRO LEAGUE IN NZ

PNG Hekari FC will be departing Port Moresby today for New Zealand for the inaugural season of the OFC Professional League.
After twelve weeks of tireless effort, commitment and dedication in training, the Red Army are ready to face any opponent in the competition.
The Red Army will open their campaign against their Melanesian brothers, Solomon Kings, on Sunday, 18 January 2025. They will then face Tahiti United before taking on South Melbourne.
Hekari held their final training yesterday the at PNG Football Stadium in Port Moresby.
In a press conference held yesterday, Hekari FC General Manager Wira Wama expressed his confidence in the team is well, adding that they are prepared for the challenging opening fixtures.
Head Coach Marcos Gusmão said the team’s preparation has been thorough and encouraging.
Meanwhile, Dave Tomare as been appointed as captain for the inaugural OFC Professional League competition while Vanuatuan, John Alick has been named vice-captain to help lead the team.
Tomare said he is humbled and honoured to be appointed captain and to lead the boys in our first-ever OFC Pro League campaign.
