NBCL APPOINTS ADAM DOWNIE AS ACTING CEO

THE National Banking Corporation Limited (NBCL) has announced the recent appointment of Adam Downie as Acting Chief Executive Officer, and will lead the Bank on interim basis while the Board undertakes a formal recruitment process for a permanent Chief Executive Officer, which is expected to commence later this month.
The appointment was endorsed by the NBCL Board at a Special Board Meeting held last week.
Mr Downie brings more than two decades of senior banking leadership experience across retail and corporate banking, digital financial services, lending, innovation, and strategic execution.
His career spans senior executive roles with Westpac and Kina Bank, where he held end-to-end profit and loss accountability and led large, multidisciplinary teams.
NBCL Chairman Darrell Seeto said Mr Downie’s appointment comes at a critical point in the Bank’s transformation journey adding Adam is a proven transformation leader with deep experience in the PNG market.
Mr Seeto says, Adam’s appointment ensures continuity of leadership as the Bank move into a year focused squarely on execution, delivery, and performance.
NBCL remains confident that, under Mr Downie’s interim leadership, the Bank will continue to deliver value for customers and shareholders, as it advances its transformation agenda into 2026.
