PROGRAMS are already in place to support youths in growing Rugby League in communities to help young boys and girls progress through Junior Pathways.

Newly Appointed CEO of PNG Chiefs’ Lorna McPhearson says, Community development will be central to the PNG Chiefs, with plans to support 50 boys and girls in PNG with full educational
scholarships.

She says the club has committed to growing the number of scholarships awarded year on year, with the long-term goal of providing up to 5,000 scholarships annually across sport and the arts.

She further says the team will deliver so much more than just a sporting club to PNG and will help shape the future of the tourism industry, creating employment, build educational pathways for young boys and girls and help put this great nation on the map for all the right reasons.

She says, PNG Chiefs will open new pathways for the people —Rugby League is rooted to every village and every community in PNG, and this team has the power to showcase the country to the world.

Meantime, the PNG Chiefs are set for a big 2026, with a new office at Santos Stadium, and the commencement of construction on the Centre of Excellence and the building out of a strong executive team.
