A TOTAL of K8.8m has been invested to subsidise tertiary students school fees for Kainantu students for the past 4years by the Kainantu District Development Authority to boost higher level education and boost the human resource of the district.
Local MP William Hagahuno imade this known this week when launching this year’s K2.2m tertiary students subsidy program witnessed by students and parents.
Kainantu MP William Hagahuno said the Tertiary students school fee subsidy program will run in the district under his leadership describing it as a lifetime investment to boost the level of education for Kainantu students throughout the country and also further studies abroad.
MP Hagahuno told parents that school fee assistance is not a right but a privilege for students and a consistent yearly budget of K2.2m has been budgeted under the Kainantu DDA from the district services improvement program funds in the past 4years under his leadership since 2023 to assist parents to ensure their children complete Tertiary level of education.
The program supports Kainantu students attending both Universities and TVET colleges throughout the country and has so far received K8.8m budget of the Kainantu DDA in the past 3 years including this year.

He described the investment as a permanent service delivery that will have a direct impact to benefit families and communities in many years to come and also added that the program is part of his vision and dream to build an educated population of working-class professionals for Kainantu District throughout the country.
He also challenged program officers to ensure transparency and accountability in the roll-out of the program and submit timely feedback to his office.
MP Hagahuno highlighted that more than 5000 Tertiary students in Kainantu District alone have benefited from the project since 2023 with many currently in the workforce.
One of the students Theresa Aviri who has benefited from the program and currently employed and on break in Kainantu was also present to thank the MP and District.
