2026 LEGAL YEAR OFFICIALLY OPENED

THE 2026 LEGAL Year has officially begin, Court houses around the nation has officially opened today for court houses nationwide to address court matters at the District, National and Supreme Courts.
The Legal fraternity including judges, lawyers, Magistrates, and staff of the National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) marched the Independence Boulevard this morning towards the new Waigani Courts Complex where the legal year opening dedication Services was held.
Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Gibuma Salika, PNG Law Society President Hubert Namai, Chief Magistrate Mark Pupaka and Minister for Justice and Attorney General Pila Niningi were all presented to witness the ceremony.
Chief Justice Sir Salika challenged the lawyers and judges to make this year successful, in terms of delivering justice and legal services to the nation.
He strongly emphasized on the delay and backlog of cases in the National and Supreme Courts files, that needs to be delivered this year and in the coming years.
PNG Law Society President Hubert Namai also added the lawyers need to perform their duties and their utmost role is to protect the constitution by delivering fair and just ruling on matters before the Courts.
