THE 2025 Corruption Perception Index (CPI) reports and surveys revealed that PNG has dropped dramatically in its ranking, and rated as one of the most corrupted countries in the Pacific.

Out of 180 counties, PNG has moved from the 31 on the ladder to now 27, which is far four points drop from its previous 31-spot in 2024.

Transparency International PNG Deputy Director Yuambari Haihuie while revealing the 2025 CPI rankings further added that PNG is on the way down, which is not a perfect trend for a developing nation.

Mr Haihuie further added that in percentage wise, PNG is also rated 26 out of 100, which is the direct result of corruption and flaw on the democracy.
