NEW IRELAND PPC COMMENDS SUCCESSFUL BY-ELECTION

THE New Ireland Provincial Police Commander, Chief Inspector Albert Bellie commends the successful outcome of the recent by-election in Kavieng.

In his report on the by-election operation, code-named “Markim Provincial Lida,” he said the police officers have done well from the beginning until the declaration yesterday with the Electoral Commission announcing Byron Chan as the newly elected Provincial Member at Peter Torot’s Hall in Kavieng.

Chief Inspector Bellie also expressed gratitude to all ten candidates who have contested with their scrutineers for maintaining a peaceful environment and refraining from intimidation or misconduct during the electoral process.

He also thanked the Provincial Election manager, Benjamin Kliawi for conducting a safe and transparent by election.

Meanwhile, PPC Bellie reported on an armed robbery that occurred in Kavieng town, involving nine suspects.

He confirmed that police have apprehended and arrested six of the suspects, who are now in custody and facing court proceedings.

He urged young people who are planning on doing criminal activities to reconsider their choices, warning that their days are numbered.
