LAE POLICE OFFICER ATTACKED WITH WIRE CATAPULT, SETTLERS CAUSING PROBLEMS

By BRADLEY MARIORI in Lae.
LAE Metropolitan Commander, Chief Superintendent Chris Kunyanban confirmed his officer was attacked with a wire catapult at 3mile DPI station, attending to stop a commotion between a couple and a man from Eastern Highlands.
The incident happened early hours of Saturday night and Chief Supt Kunyanban has urged the leaders to hand in the suspects involved.
He said the officer was taken to the hospital where he was treated, stabilized and is currently under medication.
Kunyanban added that if these people are living on state land and causing these problems, they will have to go.
He said settlements are good but should be structured in a proper way and there should be a control mechanism in place to control the people.
Kunyanban said he will not hesitate to evict people living on state land and causing problems.
