CONSTRUCTION OF NEW POLICE HOUSES IN MALAHANG

LAE City Authority (LCA) with the support from local MP and Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso, will now construct new police houses at Malahang to reinforce the efforts to strengthen law and order infrastructure across the city and surrounding districts.
Local Lae MP John Rosso said the housing project will complement the newly opened Malahang Police Station, which now serves the people of Ahi, Lae City, Huon Gulf and Nawae District.
He said with over 50 police vehicles purchased and continuous logistical support provided for the police so far, this housing project is a broader vision to strengthen policing in Lae, not only through operational support but also by improving officers’ welfare.
Rosso said while vehicles enhance mobility and response capacity, long term effectiveness also depends on proper accommodation for officers and their families.
“That is why the Lae City Authority (LCA), using your tax money, is now focusing on building decent and secure housing to ensure police personnel can focus fully on their duties and respond to crime scenes on time,” Rosso said.
“Police housing is critical to effective law enforcement. When officers are properly accommodated and their families are secure, they are better positioned to respond swiftly to incidents and maintain a strong presence in communities.
“The project will enhance police response and visibility in areas including Backroad, Bumayong, Busu Mountain, parts of Nawae District, Huon Gulf District and greater Lae City.”
He said LCA remains committed to investing in infrastructure that supports law enforcement, protects communities, and builds a safer and more secure Lae for all.
