CLASSSES at the University of Goroka will commence on the 16th of this month with the continuation of registration for the continuing students this week into next week at the University.

According to University of Goroka Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Academic, Research and Innovation Dr Matthew Landu the late registration is solely because of school fees and late sponsorship payments.

He said this would not affect the academic schedule with the graduation dates set for the 15th and 16th of next month.

Dr Landu says less than 2500 first year students will be enrolled at the UOG this year, a decrease from last year’s total 3000 intakes due to the recent crisis at the University.

He says the registration process at the University took about a month alongside the digital online registration introduced this year at the University along side mannual registrations.

Dr Landu further said, many parents are experiencing very difficult financial situations and are to pay 65% up front payment to allow the students to enrol, especially students under government scholarships and HELP loans program.

Classes will begin in the next 2 weeks on the 16th of this month.

As part of the registration process, students will be signing a zero tolerance to alcohol, a requirement of the University of Goroka this year.
