“VOICE OF CHANGE” FILM LAUNCHED TO COMMEMORATE WOMEN’S DAY

IN celebrating International Women’s Day, the Department of Community Development and Religion launched a documentary film titled “Voice of Change: the journey of women in Papua New Guinea” at the Hilton Hotel in Port Moresby Thursday 5th of March, 2026.
The primary purpose of the documentary film is to inform, educate and advocate for women empowerment, a systematic challenge, deeply rooted in culture that has existed in Papua New Guinea for many years.
Voices of Change is an initiative of the Department of Community Development and Religion, produced in collaboration with Tribe Agency and the PNG Women Lead Program, under the PNG-Australia Partnership.
Giving an overview of the film, Ms Nancy Kavop, Director of the development of women, DfCDR said this landmark documentary explores the nation’s progress toward women’s equality since 1975.
She says the film captures the voice, leadership and resilience of Papua New Guinean women.
The documentary film was officially launched by the Minister for Community Development, Youth and Religion, Hon. Jason Peter.
In his keynote address, the minister said the film stands as a national tribute and a record to progress however emphasised that work is not yet done.
Minister Peter, once again reaffirmed the government’s commitment to close the gap of gender barriers and to continue to empower and inspire the next generation of women leaders.
