PNG Hekari FC was the first team to arrive at the Honiara International Airport yesterday afternoon to get a head start in preparations, to officially open round 4 of the OFC Pro league against South Island United this weekend.

Hekari was welcomed by the hot Honiara sun, which is not new to the players and Solomon Islander coach, Jerry Allen.
An excited John Orobulu told media that he is excited to play at home, in front of friends and family.

He adds that he hopes to score a goal at home.

The Solomon Island striker added that the team is well prepared, and they came with expectations of victory.

Coach Jerry Allen emphasised on the importance of round 4, adding that it is going to be rugged, but the team is still learning, and they are hopeful to give a better performance from the last round.

When asked about Ati Kepo, coach said it was unfortunate that Kepo will not be playing in the first game, but he is happy because this gives opportunity for the young players to step up their game.

As Oceania’s first ever professional league builds momentum, heading into round 4, the PNG side is still in 8th place in the league standings; stakes are high, as the red army’s resilience is once again put to test.

Round 4 kicks off this Saturday March 14th at the National Stadium in Honiara, Solomon Islands, with the South Island United and PNG Hekari FC.
