THE Marape-Rosso Government will maintain its long-standing foreign policy principle of being β€œfriends to all and enemies to none,” according to Prime Minister James Marape.

Speaking at the launch of the Foreign Policy White Paper, Marape reaffirmed that the doctrine, established at independence in 1975, remains central to PNG’s identity on the global stage.

He described the approach as deeply rooted in Melanesian culture and values, including hospitality, dialogue, and peaceful conflict resolution.

The Prime Minister said the philosophy also reflects Christian principles that continue to shape the country’s national character.

Despite changes in the global landscape, Marape emphasized that this foundational policy will not be abandoned but instead strengthened within the new framework.

He said maintaining friendly relations with all nations is critical to ensuring stability and cooperation, especially in a world increasingly defined by geopolitical tensions.
