TOURISM, Arts and Culture, Minister Belden Namah has voiced his view on the recently passed Vagrancy Act, saying “the act is not realistic”
Minster Namah said, the constitution guarantees the rights for the young people to move around the country to look for job opportunities, the government has to provide other alternatives for the young people of Papua New Guinea.
“If the government is going to come up with laws like the vagrancy act, they have to come up with better alternatives that will still provide opportunity for young Papua New Guineans” he said.
He added that the vagrancy act is not realistic because it limits opportunities for the young people.
Hu suggested a law on loitering or remaining in a public or private place without a clear, lawful purpose.
The tourism Minister called on the government to create more opportunities for the young people instead of coming up with laws that limit their potential.
He was speaking at the launch of the Miss Bird of Paradise Provincial pageants at the Apec Haus on Saturday March 21st.
