BY LETHISA KOLOKOL
NATIONAL Capital Dsitrict Governor Powes Parkop has admitted that the plans for the resettlement of the displaced people of the recent evictions in the National Capital District has been slow.
At the National press club toon Friday last week, the governor says NCDC had set plan to set up a care centre facility for the displaced people that was activated after the evictions.
He said that 10-hectare land at Gerehu has been cleared and they are now in the process of fencing it to build up a temporary care centre facility for the displaced people.
He also admitted that the process has been slow in the land surveying and subdividing but that is a technical aspect which he has no control over.
He further added that this strategy is to provide temporary plans to cater for at 5000 of the displaced people but they will also be working on building affordable housing in the same areas as well.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner of Police for NCD/Central, ACP Benjamin Turi added the 2 mile residents have taken the state to court but have lost their case.
While the case with the displaced people at 4 mile is still in court proceedings.
These plans are to help cater for people that have been displaced from evictions that were carried out earlier this year.
