THE Birip-Lukitap Road Project built by the Wabag District Development Authority (WDDA) has now enabled women farmers in Aiyel Valley of both the Wabag and Wapenamanda Districts to bring their fresh produce to local markets and sell for a steady income.
The Aiyel Valley along the electoral borders of the Wabag and Wapenamanda electorate is known for its rich, fertile soil where organic produce like sweet potatoes, taro, banana, and potatoes alongside fresh supplies of fruits and vegetables is grown in abundance.
A women organization in the area named the Voice of Enga Women Farmers has taken the first step to organize women in the area to venture into agribusiness.
Spokeswoman Everlyn Sap said that they have organized women folks in the Aiyel Valley area to ensure their fresh produce are sold on time, making steady profits for themselves and their families.
She acknowledged the Wabag District Development Authority for connecting Aiyel Valley with a reliable road network that is currently under the sealing stage for the women to bring their fresh produce into Wabag and Wapenamanda respectively for marketing purposes.
