INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS PNG STRESS ON COMPETENCY IN INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

THE Institution of Engineers PNG Inc involvement in the Inaugural Construction and Contractor Conference 2026 is to support local contractors in Papua New Guinea to ensure they recruit competent and trained Papua New Guinean engineers, aligning with the government’s vision.

Speaking during the Nasfund FM100 talk Back show, Institution of Engineers PNG Inc CEO Mr. Mick emphasizes the importance of competency in sustaining the country’s roads and infrastructure.

He stressed that engineers must follow a code of ethics when designing, constructing, and maintaining roads with competency as is the key in sustaining road or infrastructure development.

Mick emphasizes that they are working together with the contractors who are attending the conference to ensure they employ competent qualified professionals.

He said engineers play a crucial role in Papua New Guinea’s infrastructure development and ensure they meet the required standards is vital.
