K100 MILLION RELIEF PACKAGE TO STABILISE FUEL CRISIS

TO stabilise fuel supply in the country, Prime Minster James Marape announced on Wednesday that the cabinet approved a relief package of K1 billion, this afternoon minister in charge of monitoring committee, Minister Joseph Lelang announced that K100 million will be released on Monday, 13th April to stabilise fuel pricing.
Minister Lelang clarified that the country is going through an inflation problem, that is affecting import and domestic fuel supply.
He said to address this issue, the government allocated K1 billion to absorb 100% of the fuel pricing.
Minister Lelang said this money will be put into the Central as trust fund and will be released to the importers in Monday.
At the moment, the committee which consists of the Minister and the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission or ICCC are in consultion with Exxon Mobil, Puma Energy, Ok Tedi and other fuel importers on when the necessary changes will be made available.
