LAE โ There was no shortage of passion, dust, and raw talent at the Ankonok field in Tent City this last 2 weeks, as Lae City FC (LCFC) joined forces with local community leaders to support a massive school holiday soccer tournament.โฃ
The event proved to be a major drawcard for local youth, successfully bringing together 20 teams in the Under-15 division and 15 teams in the Under-12 division from all across the Tent City area.โฃ
โฃ
The tournament perfectly aligns with a grander vision brewing for the city’s youth. Backed heavily by the Lae City Authority, alongside the Lae Football Association (LFA) and Lae City FC, this initiative serves as a springboard for a major grassroots revival, a citywide school soccer program set to roll out in the near future.โฃ

For LCFC, showing up at the Ankonok field wasnโt just about scouting the next generation of football stars, it was about being a present, positive force in the community.โฃ

The tournament’s roaring success wouldn’t have been possible without strong grassroots leadership. Lae City FC extended its deepest gratitude to the Tent City community, giving a special shout-out to community leader Xavier Tremani, his dedicated team, and the event coordinators for organizing the tournament and inviting the club to be a part of it.โฃ
As the holiday tournament wraps up, the echoes of cheering fans and the smiles on the young players’ faces leave no doubt: football is alive, well, and transforming lives in Lae.
