LDC UNVEILS NEW TIABA ABATTOIR FACILITIES

THE Livestock Development Corporation has officially opened new facilities at the Tiaba Abattoir in Port Moresby, aimed at boosting LDC’s commercial growth.

The facilities were opened yesterday with a ribbon cutting by former LDC Minister and Member for South Fly Sekie Agisa, and incoming Minister and Member for Delta Fly Agena Gamai, joined by LDC Managing Director Steven Yangis and LDC Board Chairman Marthin Ginyaru.

The new infrastructure includes a 12-unit staff housing complex, upgrades to the state-of-the-art abattoir, factory development, an equipment improvement program, and other supporting facilities.

Speaking at the launch, MD Yangis said the facilities will increase revenue for the corporation, bring better support for farmers, and help contribute meaningfully back to the government.

Yangis highlighted that the staff housing units will accommodate 12 staff and help cut rental accommodation cost while the new farming equipment will boost farming activity and productivity.

The opening marks a significant step forward in LDC’s efforts to modernize operations and strengthen PNG’s livestock sector.
