SILAG AND IJIVITARI DISTRICT STRENGHTENS PARTNERSHIP TO BOOST LEADERSHIP

THE Somare Institute of Leadership and Governance (SILAG) yesterday, strengthens a long-standing partnership with the office of the member for Ijivitari, reaffirming their shared commitment to building leadership and governance capacity within the district.

On behalf of the member for Ijivitari, David Arore, the District Chief Executive Officer, Kila Sibolo signed a Memorandum of Understanding and presented a cheque of K100, 000 to SILAG for the second batch of Ijivitari District Administration staff to support their studies.

The funding will enable district officials and public servants to undertake accredited programmes at SILAG, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to enhance leadership, governance, and public service delivery across the district.

CEO Sibolo urged students who have represented the district to focus on their studies, complete their training, equip themselves with the necessary skills and qualifications, earn their certificates, and return to Ijivitari to contribute to the district’s development and strengthen its administration.

“On behalf of the people of Ijivitari and the Member for Ijivitari, David Arore, this partnership demonstrates our commitment to working with SILAG to develop the district,” Sibolo said.

Meanwhile CEO of SILAG, Michael Barobe confirmed that SILAG has partnered with Simbu, Madang, Eastern Highlands, Western Highlands, and East New Britain provinces to deliver public service training programs.

“To our knowledge, provinces or districts that are not requesting training are simply not progressing in building the capacity of their public service,” Barobe said.

This renewed partnership further strengthens that commitment and reinforces the district’s dedication to developing a capable, professional, and future-ready public service.
