TELIKOM PNG CHAMPIONS DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
By Nigel MADO, Port Moresby
Telikom PNG is positioning itself as a key player in the country’s digital transformation, as highlighted by Group CEO Amos Tepi during the Nasfund FM100 talkback show. Tepe stressed the critical role communication plays in supporting industries such as oil, gas, and mining in Papua New Guinea.
“Communication is an essential element in every development, from oil rigs to shipping. We’re preparing to support these industries by ensuring connectivity and digital solutions are available, not just for companies but for their employees and communities,” said Tepe.
Telecom PNG has been undergoing significant changes to keep up with the country’s growing need for digital infrastructure. Tepe pointed out the company’s involvement in new initiatives, such as the National Identification (NID) system, which could streamline access to services and promote inclusivity in PNG’s economic growth.
The government’s push for digital transformation through events like the recent Digital Transformation Summit aligns with Telecom’s goals to be a leader in telecommunications for both local and international stakeholders.
