BSP COMMITS K80,000 TO STRENGTHEN PNG SWIMMING DEVELOPMENT

BSP Financial Group has reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to the development of swimming in Papua New Guinea with a K80,000 sponsorship for Papua New Guinea Swimming Inc. (PNGSI) in 2026.
The sponsorship sees BSP return as the Naming Rights Sponsor of the BSP Kundu National Aquatic Excellence Program, which supports athlete development, education programs, and training opportunities for coaches and technical officials in partnership with World Aquatics.
PNG Swimming Inc. President Ryan Pini welcomed BSP’s continued support, describing the sponsorship as a significant boost for the sport’s development.
“We are delighted to have BSP back on board and are extremely grateful for its renewed commitment to swimming in Papua New Guinea. This partnership provides welcome stability as we deliver our development priorities for 2026,” Pini said.
He said the BSP Kundu National Aquatic Excellence Program provides a structured pathway for swimmers to develop their skills and progress to national and international competition, while also strengthening the capacity of coaches and technical officials across the country.
BSP Head of Corporate Banking Corporate South, David Bishop, said the bank’s long-standing partnership with PNG Swimming is about creating opportunities for young Papua New Guineans to excel both in sport and in life.
“Our partnership with PNG Swimming is about creating opportunities for young Papua New Guineans to develop their talents, build life skills and proudly represent our nation. We commend PNG Swimming for its continued commitment to developing athletes, coaches and officials,” Bishop said.
BSP has supported junior swimming development in Papua New Guinea since 2004.
Through its partnership with PNGSI, the bank has helped establish pathways that enable young swimmers to progress from grassroots participation to elite-level competition, producing athletes capable of representing Papua New Guinea on the international stage.
