Nene Macdonald, the fullback for the Papua New Guinea Kumuls, has spoken highly of the team’s time together in their Fiji camp ahead of their Pacific Championship match against Fiji.

The squad has been in camp preparing for the upcoming clash, and according to Macdonald, the atmosphere and preparation have been nothing short of exceptional.

“Yeah, it’s been good. It’s good to have all the boys together. Fiji is a beautiful place, and we’ve got a good spot here,” Macdonald said. “We just finished a big session, flowed really well. So we’re excited.”

A key talking point of the squad’s preparation has been the inclusion of several PNG Hunters players, the country’s team in Queensland’s Hostplus Cup competition. Macdonald spoke positively about how the Hunters boys have integrated with the overseas-based players in the Kumuls squad.

“They’ve been gelling well, I think,” he said. “It’s good to see more and more boys pushing for a position from the Hunters and seeing them get Queensland Cup and Super League contracts. It shows that the Hunters are developing very well.”
