SILAG, UNITECH INK PARTNERSHIP TO STRENGTHEN UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATION

THE Somare Institute of Leadership and Governance -SILAG- and the Papua New Guinea University of Technology- UNITECH- have entered into a four-year partnership aimed at strengthening the capacity and competency of the university’s management and administrative staff.

SILAG Chief Executive Officer Michael Barobe said the partnership would see the institute provide training in key areas including financial management, human resource management, leadership and administration.

The Memorandum of Understanding will also support efforts to improve the professional skills of staff working across the university’s management and administrative structures.

Barobe said SILAG had already trained and certified members of the university council and management team as part of its engagement with the institution.

Under the new partnership, the institute will continue to roll out training programmes designed to help staff improve their knowledge and capacity to carry out their roles.

He said the University of Technology, as a government institution, also operated within the wider public sector framework and its administrators needed to understand the systems and requirements governing public institutions.
