SCHOOLS IN NCD CLOSE TERM 3 WITH EARLY INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATIONS AS CITY GEARS UP FOR 51ST ANNIVERSARY FESTIVITIES

TERM 3 of the school year is winding down, with students preparing for holidays.

 Schools across the Nation’s Capital have ended on a festive note, staging early Independence celebrations to close the term.

Tokarara Primary and Ted Diro Primary were among those that marked the occasion today, with students proudly showcasing their provincial identities through traditional attire and cultural dances.

 Many told Kalang News that Independence is about pride, unity, and upholding traditions as true Papua New Guineans.

Meanwhile, the National Capital District has unveiled a packed program of Independence activities from 12–16 September to commemorate the nation’s 51st Anniversary.

Festivities begin with the Unity Walk from Murray Barracks to Ela Beach on Saturday morning, followed by the Hiri Moale Festival.

The Amazing Port Moresby Arts & Music Festival will run daily from 12–16 September, while the Festival of a Thousand Tribes takes centre stage at Sir John Guise Stadium on the 16th.

The One City, One People, One Country Festival will be hosted at Unagi Oval on the 15th and 16th.

These celebrations are expected to draw residents from Port Moresby, Central Province, and neighbouring regions together in unity to mark Papua New Guinea’s national day.
