The Somare Institute of Leadership and Governance today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Lands and Physical Planning to boost capacity-building initiatives within the Lands Department.

This collaboration aims to strengthen leadership and governance in public service through targeted training & development programs.

The collaboration starts today with the training of 130 participants/staff from the Department of Lands and Physical Planning on Public Services and will conclude this Friday.

Chief Executive Officer of SILAG Michael Barobe welcomed the participants to the institution and challenged them to learn & participate in the training with their best as well as promoting SILAG as the only Government Institution that provides Public Services training to public servants in the country.

He says this collaboration will see both institutions perform to the needs and demands of the country in training public servants.

The secretary for lands and Physical Planning Benjamin Samson presented a dummy cheque of K59, 600 to SILAG to cater for the Lands Officers’ Induction training.

Mr. Samson excitedly said that Land is a critical and important asset and by sending his officers to SILAG to be trained and upskilling their knowledge and skills is a bonus for the lands department.

More training for the lands officers will be done after the Public Services Induction training this week
