The newly formed Our Pati has announced in a press conference yesterday afternoon that its 14 members will move back to join the Government caucus to address the challenges facing the country.

This was announced by Our Pati leader and Finchafen MP Renbo Paita.

Paita stated that the decision to move was backed by all 14 members of the party who saw the need to work closely with the Marape/Rosso Government to address daunting issues that are facing the country.

Paita says it is with heavy heart to leave behind the other members of the opposition but the decision comes after consultative consultations with the leaders from the government and was backed by the 14 party members of the party and they are; Party Leader and Finchafen MP Renbo Paita, Kompiam/Ambum MP Sir John Pundari, Laigap MP Amos Akem, Bogia MP Robert Naguri, Nawaeb MP Theo Pelgen, Wau/Waria MP Marsh Narawec, Menyama MP Solen Loifa, West New Britain Governor Sasindra Muthevel, Moresby North-West MP Lohia Boe Samuel, Samarai/Murua MP Isi Leonard Henry, Simbu Governor Noah Kool, Milen Bay Governor Gordon Wesley, North Bougainville MP Francisca Semoso and Goilala MP Casmiro Aia.

He says there was a need for stability in the political arena given that they pushed for the recent Vote of No Confidence (VONC) to cause a change of government but recognised that the majority of members of Parliament remained steadfast that James Marape continues as Prime Minister.

Paita adds that Our Pati caucus has made the decision to set aside political differences and unify with the government as a party and help address the issues facing the country such as unsettling law and order situation, climbing inflation rates, inadequate employment opportunities, lack of Foreign direct investment amongst others.

He reiterated that Our Pati will remain as a strong voice for the government to agree or disagree on policies that the government introduces and give support to the Prime Minister and Pangu Pati to make some hard decisions for the welfare of the country.
