OVER 10,000 GRADE 12 STUDENTS SELECTED
The Department of Higher Education Research Science and Technology is pleased to announced the official inauguration of the National Online Selection System for grade 12 school leavers and non-school leavers for Papua New Guinea on the 18th of December 2024 by the Minister for DHERST and Sports Kinoka Feo in Port Moresby.
With this system inaugurated a total of 10, 199 school leavers have been selected out of 30, 0640 applicants and for non-school leavers a total of 1, 302 have been selected out of 2, 268 for Higher Education Institutions in PNG for 2025 admissions.
The Minister says, Grade 12 school leavers and Non-school leavers can now receive notifications on their National Online Application “My status” to confirm their selections to the Higher Education Institutions.
The Minister in his speech says, this inauguration of NOSS marks an historic milestone for the higher Education sector in PNG.
He says each year, the number of grade 12 population increase and so the competition to get selected by meeting institutional program quota is aligned with sectoral policies and academic parameters for assuring quality higher education.
He shared the key statistics for both school leavers and non-school leavers as follows;
• Number of Grade 12 School Leaver Applicants: 30, 640
• Number of Non-School Leaver Applicants: 2, 268
• Total Secondary School with Nomination Lists: 235
• Total Academic Programmes Available for 2025 Academic year: 314
The Minister also emphasized the importance of using the National Online Selection System to ensure a fair and transparent selection process for all applicants.
He says the transparent and efficient operation of this system is a testament to the diligent efforts of DHERST.
The selected students will now begin the process of enrolling in their chosen Higher Education Institutions for the 2025 academic year.
The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to providing quality education opportunities for all Papua New Guineans and congratulated the selected students on their achievements.
He expressed his gratitude to all involved in the selection process and wished the selected students’ success in their future.
