LAE MET SUPT OUTLINES OBJECTIVES FOR 2025
By Nigel MADO
After ensuring a peaceful festive season towards the end of 2024, Lae Metropolitan Superintendent, James Luan has outlined the Commands goals to achieve this year to ensure the safety and security in the capital of Morobe Province.
Lae City during the festive period transitioning into the new year did not record any major incidents, an achievement that the Met Supt is hoping to reciprocate throughout the year of 2025.
The first goal in mind for the Met Supt when speaking to this newsroom was to ensure that the Lae District Peace & Good Order Committee that was set up by Lae MP & Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso works closely with the Lae Police.
Taking the community approach, Luan stated that the command intends to work closely with the committee to maintain visibility in hot spot or high-risk areas in the city and also to work with communities in Lae to enhance police community relations.
Another aspect of policing that the Lae command would like to work on is to ensure discipline remains top priority among the police. Luan stated that they hope to make sure that this year they reduce the number of complaints against the police by enhancing discipline among their ranks.
He voiced his appreciation to all citizens of Lae City for their adherence to the laws of the city and is looking forward to working with hard to ensure the rule of law is upheld in the city.
