With Rainbo Paita’s return to the Government Caucus, Prime Minister James Marape has announced that Government now has a full Cabinet, as permitted by the current laws, which allows for up to 39 members.

He stated this during the swearing in of Paita as a Member assisting that Prime Minister, further stating that this is a milestone, recognizing the wealth of experience that he brings to the Government’s collective efforts.

At this the Prime Minister urged the country to keep politics where it belongs, in the hands of politicians and for the focus to remain on the work at hand, rather than engaging in commentary that serves only to hold the country back and foster negativity

He said Rainbo Paita is the leader of OUR Party, which brings a substantial block of 14 members to the coalition government.

“You may ask why we need such numbers at this stage in our parliamentary proceedings. This year is particularly significant as we celebrate our 50th anniversary as a nation, and we are entering our sixth year in office,” the Prime Minister said.

He said in 2019, they took leadership by storm, and the Paita was among those who committed to changing the course of the country, particularly regarding economic benefits and national entitlements tied to natural resources.

Marape added that this work is ongoing and requires the Government’s unwavering focus.
