MINIMUM SERVICE STANDARDS TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON

THE Education Department is working on introducing a new policy called Minimum Service Standard policy, that will decentralise responsibility of looking after Early Childhood Learning, Primary Schools, High Schools and Vocational Schools to LLG levels.


Speaking on the Nasfund FM100 Talkback Show earlier this week, the Education Secretary, Dr Uke Kombra says the Minimum Services Standards policy will be put in paper and formally announced soon.


Dr Kombra also said the National government will assume responsibility for the Schools of Excellence in the country whilst adding the department will also be focusing on assessing the performance of teachers and students in the country.

Meantime, Secretary Kombra also highlighted 2024 achievements in education in 2024 graduating approximately 200, 000 students from Grade 8, 10 and Grade 12 that were among the 2.3 million students including 82,000 studnets from the Flexible Distant Education or FODE.

He said that amongst the achievements is the development of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Program (STEM) seeing of over 200 students taking up studies overseas.


The secretary also mentioned that the curriculum for early childhood education has already been completed and will be implemented this year.


These are some of the major highlights of the development in education sector. and education department will continue to expand the full system so that it provides education for everyone and leaving no child behind.

As the country looks forward to celebrate 50 years of Independence, so as the major achievements in the education system in the country.
