BSP WANTOK ROADSHOW WALLET IN KIUNGA

The BSP Wantok Wallet Roadshow team from Port Moresby, along with the FM100 team, visited Kanae Investment Limited, a BSP cash agent in Kiunga, as part of their promotional efforts.
The Roadshow, which involved BSP cash agents from Kiunga, Rumginae, and Lake Murray, aimed to showcase the new, convenient banking system that allows users to perform transactions without the need for a bank account or card.
The team assisted customers in signing up for the Wantok Wallet service in Kiunga, with plans to expand the service to other parts of the district and province.
Wantok Wallet is designed to allow both banked and unbanked individuals to access banking services anytime and anywhere, providing a flexible and convenient option for people at all levels.
Miss Natalie Tapon, a BSP cash agent at Rumginae School of Nursing, explained that the service was particularly helpful for students and villagers in the Rumginae area.
“Normally, we spend K20 for a round trip from Rumginae to Kiunga, but with this service available locally, villagers can save that money and use it for other essentials like food,” she said.
She also urged BSP Kiunga Branch to raise awareness in more remote areas.
Mr. Samson Michael, a BSP Cash Agent in Lake Murray, expressed optimism about the Wantok Wallet’s impact, particularly in remote regions.
“While many people in Lake Murray have bank accounts or Kundu cards, they cannot access banking services through mobile banking. This new service will help them access banking services more easily,” he said.
He looks forward to extending these much-needed services to Lake Murray’s communities in the Middle Fly District.
BSP Kiunga Branch Manager, Mr. Simon Francis, reported that the program had been launched in Kiunga just four days ago, and outreach efforts had already reached Ningerum Station along the Kiunga-Tabubil highway.
“We conducted marketing in Ningerum Station yesterday and registered a good number of customers, who are very happy with the Wantok Wallet service,” he said.
He added that awareness efforts would continue in other accessible areas of North Fly and Middle Fly Districts, with plans to extend outreach to more remote locations in the future.
In the meantime, BSP agents and branches remain open to assist anyone interested in registering for the Wantok Wallet and enjoying its services.
