AUSTRALIAN HIGH COMMISSION TO PNG LAUNCHES “YUMI STAP WANTAIM” CAMPAIGN

As 2025 holds deep significance for Papua New Guinea as it celebrates 50 years of independence, being one of our oldest partners, Australia will join in celebrating this milestone achievement.
In a statement, the Australian High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, Mr John Feakes announces that Australia proudly joins PNG in celebrating this historic milestone, reinforcing the deep and enduring ties between the two nations.
Mr Feakes said, in recognition of this strong partnership, Australia is launching its “Yumi Stap Wantaim” campaign, which highlights cultural, defence, security, development and economic ties between the two countries.
He stressed that the “Yumi Stap Wantaim” is not merely a celebration; it is a tribute to the success of the Papua New Guinea which has emerged in the last 50 years.
He says throughout 2025, “Yumi Stap Wantaim” will deliver a series of high-profile events, showcasing close partnership through activities that focus on education, sport, film, music, dance, art, and food.
The Australian Commissioner adds that as part of the festivities, Australia and PNG talk about new avenues for cooperation and partnership, events, forums, and exhibitions will be held across both countries.
