CENTRAL GOVERNOR QUERIES APPOINTMENT OF NATIONAL LANDS BOARD CHAIR

Central Governor Rufina Peter, in the question without notice to the Minister for the Department of Lands & Physical Planning (DLPP) John Rosso, she called for the vacancy of the National Boards Chairman, to be filled immediately.

Speaking during today’s Parliament sitting, Central Governor Rufina says the absence of a National Lands Board Chairperson/Secretary has resulted in delays in processing crucial lands matters and this has in turn affected land administration not just in the Central Province but in other provinces as well and affecting landowners, businesses, investors and economic activities that are heavily dependent on land tenure security.

Governor Rufina, while thanking the Minister Rosso for facilitating the swearing in of the Central Province Land Board Members on the 28th of March 2024, also asked him to inform the Parliament how soon a National Chairman of the National Lands Board would be appointed.

In response, speaking on behalf of the lands minister, Prime Minister James Marape says the government would, at its earliest timing, will fill the vacancy of the National Lands Board Secretary Chairman, by getting the appointment worked on.

Meanwhile The Central Governor also acknowledged and thanked the Speaker and the Government, for appointing the Parliament’s first female speaker in North Bougainville MP Francesca Semoso.
