PEACE RESTORED IN TAURAMA FOLLOWING RETALIATORY ATTACK OVER THE WEEKEND

Over the weekend, a community in Taurama area in the National Capital District was disrupted following an attacked by a few members of the Papua New Guinea Defence Force.

Speaking to this newsroom, NCD Metropolitan Superintendent, Silva Sika said, on Saturday, 29th March, a member of the PNGDF was allegedly attacked by members of the Taurama Community, opposite Bethel Funeral Haven.

He confirmed that the soldier was seriously injured which resulted to him being admitted to the Port Moresby General Hospital Intensive Care Unit.

He says this prompted the soldier’s comrades to mobilize and launch a retaliatory attack on the members of the Taurama community, damaging properties and injuring a few people.

Superintendent Sika says, the police intervened on Sunday and have asked both parties to leave the matter to the hands of the police and let justice take its course.

He says Crime Investigations Department are still conducting Investigations into the case however he confirmed that 1 suspect involved was arrested on Sunday.

The NCD metropolitan Superintendent confirmed that peace has been restored in the Taurama community and situation is back to normal.
