70 CANDIDATES TO CONTEST BULOLO URBAN

Seventy males have successfully nominated to contest for eight seats in the Bulolo Urban local level government area. Among the 70  is current town mayor and Bulolo Urban Ward six councillor Jason Ata.

According to Mr Ata, nominations have been peaceful and all candidates have received their box numbers. Ata will be defending his seat as ward six councillor and then lobby for the mayor seat as well. He has also confirmed that the Wau-Bulolo Urban LLG has been split.

It is understood that this LLG split is made following the split of the Wau-Bulolo district into the new Bulolo and Wau-Waria districts. He will be challenging 11 other male candidates in the race for ward six councillor’s seat.

According to the draws for the candidates box numbers, 12 candidates are contesting in Ward one, another 12 in ward two, 10 candidates running in ward three, six in ward four, nine  candidates for ward five, 12 in ward six,  five in ward seven and only nine for ward eight.

The updated election schedule confirmed polling to commence on July 12 and run for 21 days. Counting is scheduled to begin on August 2nd with the writs expected to be returned on or before the 22nd of August, 2025.

The campaign period is confirmed to be underway across all four Local level government areas of Bulolo district.

This newsroom has confirmed that so far, campaigns have been quiet and peaceful for Buang LLG and Bulolo Urban LLG areas so far.
