A new partnership will now allow all sporting codes in Papua New Guinea to be broadcast nationwide under a landmark agreement signed in Port Moresby last night between the PNG sports foundation and Media Niugin Limited (EMTV).

The PNG Sports Foundation Chief Executive Officer Micha James and Media Niugini Limited (EMTV) Chief Executive Officer, Silas Matoli, officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding witnessed by Sports Minister and officials from the Telikom Group of Companies.

Telikom Board Chairman Mr. Cedric Rondoke described the partnership as the first of its kind giving EMTV the rights to air around 18 sporting codes free-to-air across the country.

He said the three-year agreement will be refined to meet international standards and ensure equal access to sports for all Papua New Guineans.

Mr. Rondoke added that with EMTV reaching more than four million viewers, the new deal will help promote national unity and create opportunities for local athletes and communities through greater visibility of their sports.
