NATION’S CAPITAL REPORTED HIGH NUMBER OF EMERGENCY RESPONSE

THE National St John Ambulance (NSJA) has confirmed it responded to a total of 267 emergencies during its Christmas operations, covering the period from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day.
The highest number of cases were recorded in the National Capital District (NCD) with 128 emergencies. Lae followed with 81 cases, Central Province reported 38, and East New Britain (ENB) recorded 20.
On Christmas Eve from 24 Dec – 25 Dec 6am, 73 emergencies were attended, 43 in the Nations Capital,19 in Lae, 6 in Central and 5 in ENB.
On Christmas Day, more emergency calls were received at the NSJA call centre, with medical examination and dispatch teams reported 96 emergencies. These included 38 in NCD, 27 in Lae, 24 in Central and 7 in ENB.
From Christmas Night to Boxing Day (25 Dec – 26 Dec), emergency response remained steady with a slight increase of two cases, bringing the total to 98. These included 47 in NCD, 35 in Lae, 8 in Central, and 8 in ENB.
National St John Ambulance says its teams will still be on alert on the festive season to keep communities safe.
