NCD GOVERNOR PARKOP DELIVERS NEW YEAR’S MESSAGE

NATIONAL Capital District Governor Powes Parkop has urged all city residents to appreciate the privilege of life and opportunities it’s presents, and to have more respect and pride for the city, for the nation and for all of the people.
In his New Years Message to the people, Governor Parkop says, as the nation bid farewell to 2025, he urged the people to enter 2026 with renewed passion and determination to be the change.
He further calls for commitment to better quality of life for the people and a stronger presence in the region.
In wishing all city-wide residents, he urged all to move together, being an inclusive city of 1000 tribes, 860 languages of all faiths and cultures and to be productive and prosperous in 2026 and beyond.
“As the sun sets on 2025, I stand before you with a heart full of gratitude. This has been more than just a calendar year; it has been a defining chapter in the PNG story.
“We have navigated a historic journey together, and I am 1,000 percent confident that history will vindicate the hard work, the service delivery, and the transformative efforts we have poured into our city and our nation.”
Governor Parkop thanks the NCDC team and partners, for helping tell the story of PNG, the Pacific, and Asia.
“Your contribution to our progress has been invaluable. To our city residents: thank you for your resilience and for walking with us as we work to make Port Moresby a safe, liveable, inclusive and world-class city.”
“We are in a unique and privileged position. We have just passed the milestone of 50 years of Independence. We have the benefit of hindsight as we prepare ourselves for the next summit or mountain peak ahead.
Governor Parkop says, “tomorrow, as we welcome 2026, we begin the first day of our next 50 years. This is our moment to shift our attitude, our approach our passion and our determination to secure a future greater and better that the past. We must appreciate the privilege of life and opportunities it’s presents, have more respect and with pride for our city, for our nation and for all of our people. More particularly we need to multiply our efforts ensure woman and girls are fully participating and benefiting from the wrath and opportunities our country can offer.”
“We are the transition generation, tasked with reshaping our economy, our health, our education, our infrastructure and creating more opportunities and possibilities for our people especially the young generations for our country.”
