OPPOSITION DEMANDS TRANSPARENCY FOR HEALTH SERVICES

THE Opposition today has called for the Prime Minister James Marape for more transparency on Health funding following the recent announcement of the Prime Minister to personally intervene in the inner workings of the health sector.

Deputy Opposition Leader, Keith Iduhu lashed out to the Prime Minister stating that his personal intervention is an attempt to mask years of systematic neglect and failed oversight after he declared to monitor the health system to fix “disjointed” distribution and chronic medicine shortages.

Iduhu continued to allege that the Marape Government continues to tout a “record” K3.205 billion health budget for 2026, including K500 million specifically for medical supplies, querying why hospitals and aid posts remain dry despite these allocations.

He outlined that the Prime Minister’s admission that the crisis is a “management failure” rather than a funding issue is a self-indictment of the current administration’s inability to govern the systems they fund.
