YOUNG GUNS CLAIMS COMMANDER’S CUP IN BIHUTE CIS CHRISTMAS GAMES

THE Bihute Correctional Services (CIS) Prisoners Christmas games for 2025 ended on a peaceful and successful note on Monday with the Young Guns Male Rugby team walk away with the Commander’s Cup after defeating the Coffee Roots team 13 to 4 at full- time.
The games involved inmates, the Correctional services members, CS families and the nearby communities.
A total of 24 teams took part in the competition 12 male and 12 female teams which begun last month (December 2025) with volleyball games for females and Touch rugby for males.
Bihute Correctional Institute services Commander John Gane thanked CS officers, inmates and the surrounding community for their outstanding participation in the games which showed discipline and also aligns with the CIS visions and rehabilitation programs that turned out a success.
A special award was presented to one of the inmates Yaplin Elia who received the Player of the Commander’s award hand picked by the Commander for demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship throughout the games.
While the Man of the match in the grandfinal went to Max Amex Hokdop from the Young Guns winning team.
Meanwhile, for the females competition the Ladybirds female inmates team received the 3rd runner up while 2nd runner up the Lavax Volley Ball team and winner of the competition was the Backstreet Volleyball team.
The woman’s team the Youngstar woman of the match award went to Dawa Rex and Emelyn Balmon.
Superintendent Gane on behalf of the Bihute CIS acknowledged sponsors including Major sponsor of K10, 000 the Mili distributors who have also assured a consistent K10, 000 sponsorship annually for the games, Eastern Highlands Provincial Administrator Executive Officer Mr Jeremiah and a local personal contribution of K5000 and the CIS headquarters for also supporting the program.
