REINTRODUCED VAGRANCY BILL 2025 PASSED UNANIMOUSLY

THE House of Parliament yesterday afternoon stood in solidarity to enact what could be arguably one the most controversial bills in the history of the country, the Vagrancy Bill 2025.
Governor of the National Capital District, Powes Parkop yesterday tabled the long-waited Vagrancy Bill 2025, albeit a reintroduced bill for its second and third reading before it was passed unanimously with 80 votes for and 1 against.
Governor Parkop when presenting his redrafted version of the Bill stated that this act is to help alleviate issues with Law and Order, Assuring the public that this Law is not restricted to the Capital but also to all urban areas of the country.
“This is the second time I have presented the bill, so I’m sure you all are well-vested with it. There’s been a lot of publicity, and we have gained awareness within the city, and of course all around the country, in terms of going through media. So I’m sure Honourable Members are fully vested with this bill and the purpose of it,” Governor Parkop stated.
As a private member’s bill, it was referred to the Constitutional and Subordinate Legislation Committee of the Parliament were made some adjustments were made incorporated.
He thanked the Minister and the Secretary for the Department of Justice and Attorney-General, the Parliamentary Committee too, led by Governor-Secretary Peter Ipatas.
