RECONCILIATION CEREMONY SCHEDULED FOR POREPORENA COMMUNITY AND POLICE

A scheduled reconciliation ceremony is set for the Police and Poreporena community later this month as a sign of bringing back peace, respect and corporation following the shooting of two young man from Hanuabada and properties damaged in a confrontation between the police and the community back in 2014.
The consensus was reached yesterday during a dialogue between the police hierarchy, NCDC and the Motu Koitabu Assembly earlier this week.
The meeting was organised by the Motu Koitabu Assembly Chairman Russel Wavik, following the increase in law-and-order issues and other related violence and illegal sales of illicit substances in the area due to lack or nil police presence and service for the past 11 years.
Another solution reached also was the announcement of police service to return to the areas as declared by the Assistant Commissioner of Police and Commander for NCD/Central Command Benjamin Turi.
ACP Turi urged the people and residents to corporate respect police officers as they bring policing service back to the community.
NCDC Governor Powes Parkop announced that this is a great achievement in restoring service and announced the reconciliation ceremony.
Minister of Police Sir John Pundari who was also present, support the governors call and said he is committed in supporting the initiative.
The meeting was attended by Police Minsiter Sir John Pundari, ACP Benjamin Turi, Metsup Warrick Simatab, NCD Governor Powes Parkop and Chairman of the Motu Koitabu Assembly Mr Russel Wavik, MKA assembly members and the community.
The reconciliation ceremony will be held next month.
