UOG TO GRADUATE 1206 SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS TODAY

OUT of the total 2069 students graduating from the University of Goroka this year, 1,206 students will graduate under the Education cohort and will proudly walk away with their certificates today while the Content cohort will see a total number of 863 students graduate on Thursday.
Special guest of honor attending UOG’s 29th graduation today is Dr Uke Kombra, Education Secretary and for Thursday for the Content cohort is Secretary for National Planning Koney Samuel.
One of the major highlights in today’s graduation that will be held at the National Sports Institute in Goroka will see the University of Goroka Chancellor Joe Wemin will be conferred the title of an Honorary Degree in tomorrow’s graduation.
This is the first of its kind in which the UOG has awarded anybody with such an award.
According to Dr Landu, the Academic Senate and Council approved an Academic Restructure that included all study programs and awards.
In addition to academic work based doctoral degrees, the restructure also included the awarding of doctoral degrees.
The Council and Academic Senate approved the criteria and protocols for awarding the Honorary Doctorate to Mr Wemin.
Chancellor Wemin is the first recipient in recognition for his vast experience in public service leadership and for leading the academic and staffing reform at UOG.
